How Much Will the Postage Cost. How Will You Post It?

  • The postage is approx $20 for the first rug and $10 for each additional to anywhere in Australia.  I can send my rugs worldwide but please contact me first and I can give you an international postage quote before you purchase.
  • I send all my rugs by eParcel with Australia Post. I have found this the most efficient and reliable method to use. Your item is easily trackable and delivery times are fast and secure.
  • Express delivery is available at an extra charge.

Can You Send to my PO Box? How Long Will it Take To Get Here?

  • Yes this is fine, you will need to sign for it on pickup.
  • The time for postage will depend on where you live. If you live in NSW it may only take 2 days but if you live in rural town in Perth it may take up to 10 days. If you are concerned email me and I can give you advise.

Where Are Your Rugs Made?

  • Love My Horse Rugs are made from several suppliers in different regions. This allows me to buy a wide range of quality rugs at the best prices available. Many of the big name equestrian companies in Australia buy their products from the same suppliers.

I Am Not Sure What Size To Buy?

  • Every horse is a different shape and size. That is why the synthetic rugs are great. I have found that one horse can comfortably wear three different size rugs. The ability to change the tab and buckle settings at the front and lengthen the back leg straps means the fitting can be changed for all horses.

Can I Return the Rug if it is the Wrong Size?

  • Please contact me if you are not sure of the size you need before purchase my rugs. If you make a mistake in your purchase and would like a size change please send rug back in original wrapping clean and unworn. I cannot except wet or dirty rugs back for hygiene reasons.
  • Please buyers are responsible for all return postage so please be careful on all purchases.

Do I Need 600 Denier or 1200 Denier and What Does This Mean?

  • The denier is a unit of measure for the linear mass density of the fibre. It is defined as the mass in grams per square metre. This means that a 600D fabric is 600 grams per sq metre and 1200D is 1200 grams per sq meter.
  • Basically it means that the 1200 Denier fabric is tougher and will possibly last longer. It does not mean your horse will be warmer. That depends on what is under the top fabric.
  • The Denier rating does not refer to the Waterproofing ability

What Warmth Factor Rug Should I Buy? Rainsheet, Fleece, 180g or 300g?

This can depend on several factors:

  • Maximum and minimum temperatures of your region.
  • Whether you want to prevent your horse growing a thick winter coat.
  • The warmer you keep your horse the less hair they will grow.
  • Or do you just want to keep the rain off them and let them grow a thick coat underneath. In this case a rainsheet may be sufficient.
  • Do you have the time to remove rugs during the day as the weather gets warmer. Fleece lined rugs are great for mild winters or warmer days.
  • The weight of the horse, fatter horses stay warmer than underweight horses.
  • The age of your horse. Older horses are less active and get chills easily. They will do better if kept fairly warm. Young horses are more active and love to gallop about to warm up if they need.
  • I advise buyers to purchase more than one rug and change from different warmth rated rugs as the temperature conditions change. If your horse only wears the heavier rug for three months of the year it is possible it will last 3 – 4 years. That is great value.

When would I use the Cotton Rugs?

These are just some of the reasons:

  • Great in summer. Prevents UV damage, stops coat fading and can prevent grey horses from dying prematurely from sun related cancers.
  • Under a rainsheet during hot wet tropical summers. This is the best prevention for rain scald and QLD itch. I lived in north queensland for 13 years I have great experience with these problems.
  • Helps prevent the nasty midgies biting and also the flies. I have a grey horse that will not let me spray him with insect spray so I hang the rug on the fence and spray that and it works a treat.
  • Traveling and competition, keeps them clean and the dust off them.
  • They are shower proof, although even if they get a soaking they dry very quickly.

Can I Return My Rug? I Think Red Would Look Better?

  • Please contact me if you are not sure of the size you need before you bid on my rugs. If you make a mistake in your purchase and would like a size or color change please send rug back in original wrapping clean and unworn. I cannot except wet or dirty rugs back for hygiene reasons.
  • Please buyers are responsible for all return postage so please be careful on all purchases.

How Do I Wash My Rug at the End of The Season?

  • All Love My Horse Synthetic and Cotton rugs are machine washable in cold water, although I recommend you remove all leg straps and tie up the surcingles before washing to protect your machine.
  • Use the cycle for woolens as this is a gentle cycle and doesn’t spin as long.
  • Do not use bleach or harsh detergents, a mild disinfectant in small doses will not effect the waterproofing ability.
  • Do not scrub marks, this will only damage the fabric and reduce the waterproofing ability of the fabric.
  • Hang out to dry thoroughly before storing until next season.
